The significance of the first 1000 days

As you may know, the first 1000 days of a baby’s life – from conception to the end of the second year – are incredibly important for long-term health. Making the right nutritional decisions at this time can deliver lifelong benefits as the endocrine, immune systems and even appetite are believed to be programmed for life by what happens in the first 1000 days1,2.

Supporting you to support parents

We understand that as healthcare professionals advising parents to make the best choices for their baby’s health is important.

Naturally breastfeeding is the best way to feed a baby and to aid
you in your conversations with parents we’ve created easy to follow videos on the benefits of breastfeeding and breastfeeding tips.

These can be found on www.smahcp.ie or you can direct parents to www.smamums.ie.

For those mums who are not able to exclusively breastfeed or who have decided to combination feed, we have a complete portfolio of baby milks. Why not try our simple algorithm to explore the full range.
