Hello [*data('91.salutation')|html*],

In your 17 month Baby Club email, we'll be talking about sugar and how to know if your little one is ready to start potty training.
You and your baby
Month 17 news

Your toddler's social skills are developing quickly. Even their reluctance to share toys is actually a sign that your toddler is working out how to interact with others! Frustration is also a common outlet for toddlers who are learning to express themselves – so don't worry if your little one seems to be having a lot of tantrums!

The Expert View
Always try to avoid foods with added sugar, as these may not provide any other nutrients and can fill your toddler up. Try giving all drinks through a lidded beaker or straw, to minimise contact with the teeth and always remember to brush your little one's teeth every night before bed.

Tips for you
Tip: Starting potty training
How do you know when your tot is ready? A good sign is when they tell you verbally that they've done a wee or a poo. This can start to happen around 18 months.

Tip: Hot drinks
Cups of tea are a good way for mummies to relax – just make sure you put them well out of the reach of little fingers.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The best way to feed a baby is to breastfeed, as breast milk provides the ideal balanced diet and protection against illness for your baby and also many non-nutritional benefits for both baby and mother. We recommend that you speak to your healthcare professional when deciding on your choice of feeding your baby. Professional guidance should also be sought on the preparation for and maintenance of breastfeeding. If you do choose to breastfeed, it's important to eat a healthy, balanced diet. Infant formula is intended to replace breast milk when mothers choose not to breastfeed or if for some reason they are unable to do so. A decision not to breastfeed, or to introduce partial bottle-feeding, will reduce the supply of breast milk. If for any reason you choose not to breastfeed, do remember that such a decision can be difficult to reverse. Using infant formula also has social and financial implications which must be considered. Infant formula should always be prepared, used and stored as instructed on the label, in order to avoid risks to a baby's health. SMA® PRO Growing Up Milk is suitable for young children from 1-3 years, as part of a healthy balanced diet and it is not a breast milk substitute. SMA® Organic Growing Up Milk is suitable for young children from the 12th month, as part of a healthy balanced diet and it is not a breast milk substitute.
