Month 18 news

Hi there chatterbox! Your little one may now have gone from picking up on the odd word or phrase to repeating the things you say. And it's not just once – it's over and over again! Don't worry, this repetition is all part of the way they learn language. It's familiar and comforting, not to mention cute!
The Expert View
Who says learning can't be fun? Playtime can be an enjoyable and educational experience for your toddler, building their imaginations, agility and even their social skills. Reading to your toddler is not only great for developing their vocabulary, but is also the perfect way to spend quality time together.
Need to know
Your little one may now be aware when they have a full nappy, so you might be thinking about potty training. Start by sitting your toddler on the potty without a nappy for a few minutes at regular times each day, such as after breakfast or before bath time. But don't force things – every toddler is different and it will take time for them to master using the potty.
Potty Training
Tips for you
Tip: Quick - distract them!
Uh-oh, another temper tantrum, right on cue! Every parent has to put up with them, so try to distract your toddler with something silly or funny. A cuddly toy is your secret weapon here!

Tip: Getting the greens
Your little one needs 5 servings of goodness every single day. Get them with fruit and vegetables – the more different colours, the better!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The best way to feed a baby is to breastfeed, as breast milk provides the ideal balanced diet and protection against illness for your baby and also many non-nutritional benefits for both baby and mother. We recommend that you speak to your healthcare professional when deciding on your choice of feeding your baby. Professional guidance should also be sought on the preparation for and maintenance of breastfeeding. If you do choose to breastfeed, it's important to eat a healthy, balanced diet. Infant formula is intended to replace breast milk when mothers choose not to breastfeed or if for some reason they are unable to do so. A decision not to breastfeed, or to introduce partial bottle-feeding, will reduce the supply of breast milk. If for any reason you choose not to breastfeed, do remember that such a decision can be difficult to reverse. Using infant formula also has social and financial implications which must be considered. Infant formula should always be prepared, used and stored as instructed on the label, in order to avoid risks to a baby's health. SMA® PRO Toddler Milk and SMA® PRO Growing Up Milk are suitable for young children from 1-3 years, as part of a healthy balanced diet and these are not a breast milk substitute. SMA® Organic Growing Up Milk is suitable for young children from the 12th month, as part of a healthy balanced diet and it is not a breast milk substitute.
