You and your baby
Month 21 news
Trousers on inside-out, head pushing through the arm hole...yes, as your little one wants to become more and more independent, you may now be seeing them start to try and dress themselves. Often with varying degrees of success! This independence also comes through in their play as their little imaginations run free and they start to play on their own a bit more.
The Expert View
Toddlerhood is an amazing stage. Your little one is developing via some wonderfully hectic and energetically chaotic moments! With all that growth and change, no wonder diet is so vital. But what exactly does your toddler need? We've put together a list of dos and don'ts for all the vital food groups.
When it comes to temper tantrums, prevention is better than cure. Try to keep to a routine as much as possible to avoid overtiredness. And if you're out shopping, try to keep trips as short as possible so your toddler doesn't feel rushed, frustrated or bored...
...Routine is so important when it comes to putting your toddler to bed as well. If they cry when you put them down, stay calm and try leaving them for 5 - 10 minutes before going in to them. We know it's tough, but they'll only expect it the next time.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The best way to feed a baby is to breastfeed, as breast milk provides the ideal balanced diet and protection against illness for your baby and also many non-nutritional benefits for both baby and mother. We recommend that you speak to your healthcare professional when deciding on your choice of feeding your baby. Professional guidance should also be sought on the preparation for and maintenance of breastfeeding. If you do choose to breastfeed, it's important to eat a healthy, balanced diet. Infant formula is intended to replace breast milk when mothers choose not to breastfeed or if for some reason they are unable to do so. A decision not to breastfeed, or to introduce partial bottle-feeding, will reduce the supply of breast milk. If for any reason you choose not to breastfeed, do remember that such a decision can be difficult to reverse. Using infant formula also has social and financial implications which must be considered. Infant formula should always be prepared, used and stored as instructed on the label, in order to avoid risks to a baby's health. SMA® PRO Toddler Milk and SMA® PRO Growing Up Milk are suitable for young children from 1-3 years, as part of a healthy balanced diet and these are not a breast milk substitute. SMA® Organic Growing Up Milk is suitable for young children from the 12th month, as part of a healthy balanced diet and it is not a breast milk substitute.
