Month 22 news

Another month flashes by and once again it's been one small step for mum, one giant leap for your toddler. So what next? If they haven't already been, now's a good time for that first visit to the dentist, for your toddler to have a basic check-up and get some stickers for being brave.
The Expert View
We understand it can be tricky to come up with meals for your toddler that doesn't rely on you being a budding Jamie or Heston. So, we've put together a handy meal planner that makes sure that your toddler can still enjoy a culinary adventure that tickles their little taste buds.

Need to know
Potty training can be as stressful for toddlers as it is frustrating for you. Don't worry! It's natural that these things take time. Don't force your little one to sit on the potty if they don't want to. And for more potty training tips, check out our handy guide.

Tip: Size matters!
What do the experts mean by 'portion' for your toddler? For fruit and veg, that's about half a banana, apple or pear. Find out more in our special portion guide.

Tip: Feeling thirsty?
Toddlers should have between 6-8 drinks per day. It's best to give them water or milk – avoid sugary drinks, which can damage teeth.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The best way to feed a baby is to breastfeed, as breast milk provides the ideal balanced diet and protection against illness for your baby and also many non-nutritional benefits for both baby and mother. We recommend that you speak to your healthcare professional when deciding on your choice of feeding your baby. Professional guidance should also be sought on the preparation for and maintenance of breastfeeding. If you do choose to breastfeed, it's important to eat a healthy, balanced diet. Infant formula is intended to replace breast milk when mothers choose not to breastfeed or if for some reason they are unable to do so. A decision not to breastfeed, or to introduce partial bottle-feeding, will reduce the supply of breast milk. If for any reason you choose not to breastfeed, do remember that such a decision can be difficult to reverse. Using infant formula also has social and financial implications which must be considered. Infant formula should always be prepared, used and stored as instructed on the label, in order to avoid risks to a baby's health. SMA® PRO Toddler Milk and SMA® PRO Growing Up Milk are suitable for young children from 1-3 years, as part of a healthy balanced diet and these are not a breast milk substitute. SMA® Organic Growing Up Milk is suitable for young children from the 12th month, as part of a healthy balanced diet and it is not a breast milk substitute.
